Calligraphy

The beauty and history of calligraphy has fascinated me for years. It also elides well with my love of poetry. Sometimes this leads to calligraphing others’ or my own poetry, often in varied scripts that lend themselves to a given poem.

Much of my calligraphy is abstract and gestural. Color and concept often play a big role. Ever more frequently the line between calligraphy, drawing and painting becomes fainter.

I owe much gratitude to many gifted teachers in past years, including Inga Dubay, Rebecca Wild, Gottfried Pott, Jan Owens, Thomas Ingmire, Reggie Ezell and, most recently, Brody Neuenschwander.
