EVENTS

2010                In conjunction with the Orcas Center show, I collaborated with the curator, Pat Littlewood, to help create an event that included two poets reading their works which included an ekphrastic poem in response to the show, the Bodalo Trio, artist talks, and the kinetic storyteller duo, Nancy Wong and Robert Kikuchi Yngojo of Eth-Noh-Tec

2011                As part of the Brotman show at the UW, the curator, Rachel Dodson, and I put together a group of interdisciplinary talks that related to my universe-inspired show, “Multiple Perspectives.” It included astronomer, Jake VanderPlas Ph.D, at the UW, talking about some of the astonishing findings in the last 10 years, my artist talk, and discussion by Jen Marlow and Jeni Barcelos of Three Degrees, young attorneys working on social justice and climate change issues

2012                During the Warner Pacific show, I worked with several faculty members to help invite students to create their own (ekphrastic) works of any kind in response to my show. At a Closing Event students presented their work, which included poetry, film, improv theater, visual pieces and music. Faculty member, Dr. Dennis Plies, played improvisatory music on the marimba created in response to the show. This experience further strengthened my interest in helping to create interdisciplinary events.
